WFW8400TB00 Bearing and Seal Kit with 8540347 Seal

WFW8400TB00 Bearing and Seal Kit with 8540347 Seal

If you own a Whirlpool WFW8400TB00 washer and it sounds like a jet plane you can replace your bearings and tub seal see http://duetbearing.com/page8.html.

 Other models with different suffixes are WFW8400TB01, WFW8400TB02, WFW8400TE00, WFW8400TE01, WFW8400TW00, WFW8400TW01, WFW8400TW02, WFW8400TW03, WFW8400SR0, WFW8400SR01, WFW8400SR02, WFW8400SR03 and WFW8400SR04. No special tools are required.

The typical process is to disassemble the machine to pull the large outer tub out. Some brave souls pull it without removing the three counter weights. I prefer to pull the counter weights to make it more manageable. Once the outer tub is out you can remove the clips and split the tub into two halves. Once the front half is off you can pull the stainless steel basket out which will expose the 8540347 tub seal.

You can remove the 8540347 seal and check the rear bearing for a snap ring or retainer clip. If so, remove the clip so you can tap out the rear bearing first working through the front bearing bore. Once the bearings are out you can do some housework to prepare it for reception of the new bearings.

When tapping in the bearings take care not to impact the inner race so you don’t bruise the new bearing which can cause bearing to be noisy as well as premature bearing failure. Some clients use a socket extension and hammer to tap in the new bearings carefully keeping the impact on the outer race only.

Once new bearings are fully set you can then install the new 8540347 seal. Finally, put here all back together again and perform a test run and watch for leaks.

I hope this helps you understand what is involved when replacing your WFW8400TB00 tub bearings and 8540347 seal. See http://duetbearing.com/page8.html for your replacement bearing and 8540347 seal.
