WFW8410SW0 Bearing and Seal Kit with 8540347 Seal

WFW8410SW0 Bearing and Seal Kit with 8540347 Seal

If you own a Whirlpool WFW8410SW0 washer and it sounds like a jet plane you can replace your bearings and tub seal see http://duetbearing.com/page8.html for your bearing and seal kit . No special tools are required. Other model suffixes could be WFW8410SW01, WFW8410SW02, WFW8410SW03.

The typical process is to disassemble the machine to pull the large outer tub out. Some brave souls pull it without removing the three counter weights. I prefer to pull the counter weights to make it more manageable. Once the outer tub is out you can remove the clips and split the tub into two halves. Don't forget to mark where the clips are for when you're putting it all back together. Once the front half is off you can pull the stainless steel basket out which will expose the 8540347 tub seal.

You can remove the 8540347 seal and check the rear bearing for a snap ring or retainer clip. If so, remove the clip so you can tap out the rear bearing first working through the front bearing bore. Once the bearings are out you can do some housework to prepare it for reception of the new bearings.

When tapping in the bearings take care not to impact the inner race so you don’t bruise the new bearing which can cause bearing to be noisy as well as premature bearing failure. Some clients use a socket extension and hammer to tap in the new bearings carefully keeping the impact on the outer race only.

Once new bearings are fully set you can then install the new 8540347 seal. Finally, put here all back together again and perform a test run and watch for leaks.

I hope this helps you understand what is involved when replacing your WFW8410SW0 tub bearings and 8540347 seal. See http://duetbearing.com/page8.html  to order your replacement bearing and tub seal kit.

WFW9600TW01 Bearing and Tub Seal Replacement - If washer sounds like a freight train

WFW9600TW01 Bearing and Tub Seal Replacement

Whirlpool Duet WFW9600TW01 owners… If your washing machine is sounding like a freight train then you will need to replace your bearings and tub seal. It is best to stop using machine as soon as you hear it getting louder so you don’t cause further damage to machine.

If you damage your Duet’s support bracket (spider) shaft you can remove it from stainless steel inner basket and take it to a competent machine shop to be repaired. They can install a sleeve or weld up then machine back down to correct diameter for new bearing. If the seal seat on the shaft is damaged then I don’t know of any repairs at this time for those since they are glued to the support bracket shaft.

The Duet tub bearing replacement is performed without any special tools and you should be able to complete it in 2 - 3 hours. You will need some room to disassemble machine because the tub is fairly large and you will need room to split it in two so you can take out the inner basket and support bracket. It helps to remove the three counter weights to make the tub more manageable weight wise.

You can order your WFW9600TW01 Duet tub bearings and seal at http://duetbearing.com/page7.html. These kits are shipped via US Priority Mail.

Thank you,
