Key Fob Battery Replacement - Key Fob Battery Low

When it is time to replace your key fob battery this video should help. My vehicle recently gave me a key fob battery low warning on the dash display. Some vehicles may not indicate a keyfob low battery. However, you should notice a decrease in range when your key fob battery runs low.

This key fob used a CR1632 lithium battery. I have also seen the common CR2032 lithium battery used in keyless entry remotes, transponders and in other consumer electronics like bathroom scales, wireless security system transmitters, etc. So you might want to keep a couple of both batteries on hand just in case.

Maytag Neptune MAH4000 Spin Cycle Power Draw Via Kill A Watt Power Meter Before Tub Bearing Swap

I was playing with a Kill A Watt power meter and a MAH4000 Maytag Neptune washer to see how much power the Neptune was drawing with an empty basket. I was trying to determine if the power draw could be an indicator that the seal and bearings have failed. This power check was before the bearing replacement…

I also performed the power draw check after the bearing replacement. Go ahead and watch the video.

AED Defibrillator – Zoll AED Plus Demonstration - what is AED?

AED stands for Automatic External Defibrillator and they can mean survival to someone experiencing a cardiac arrest. Portable defibrillators are more affordable today and they are easier to use due to voice technology and don’t be surprised when you see an AED for home use...

You may be asking … What is a defibrillator? Here is a blurb I found online… “An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm. If needed, it can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm. AEDs are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).”

I recently replaced AED batteries in a Zoll AED Plus and here is a short video I created as a demonstration for you based on Zoll’s website. The battery swap was very easy and only happens every 5 years on this particular Zoll AED plus model. The earlier Zoll AED Plus models with software 5.18 or less need to be replaced every 3 years.

The voice sound is pretty loud on the Zoll AED Plus because it has to be heard in a number of environments.

I hope this video was helpful to you.

Do you know anyone who was given a second chance by an AED during a sudden cardiac arrest?

110.73012101 Kenmore Elite dryer not heating, gas dryer no heat, how to fix a dryer

Appliance Parts - My friend was having a dryer issue where it would not dry the clothes or it was taking longer to dry so I stopped by to take a look at it. I went ahead and brought a replacement gas dryer ignitor or hot surface ignitor (HSI) with me because that is a common part to fail since they thermally cycle in their normal operation and eventually wear out. This particular dryer had the lower kick panel so I can remove it and have a good view of the gas valve assembly. When I was there watching it… of course it worked without failure.

About a week later they called again so I stopped by and took another look. When I first started up dryer the HSI ignitor glowed and the gas valve clicked and she fired up. I waited until the gas valve shut off and wanted to see if it would relight properly. It turns out… it lit properly sometimes and sometimes not. Knowing that the common dryer problems are the ignitor and coils on the gas valve I would focus on the coils because the ignitor is glowing just fine.

Next, I ordered the 279834 coil set and changed them out and that was the problem. You can visit www.washerbearings.com/parts to order replacement parts other than tub bearings and seal. Have your model number available.

Don’t forget safety when working on appliances. Make sure you unplug the power cord before opening the appliance. When changing the 279834 coils… Be aware that there is a metal sleeve on the post that has the 3 terminal coil on it. Make sure you have that metal sleeve on the post because it can come off with the old coil and remain inside it. That valve post with the 3 terminal coil needs to have the metal sleeve on it to work properly. Don’t lose the metal sleeve because I don’t believe you can order that part and you will probably have to order a new gas valve to get one.

Thanks to this easy and low cost repair we saved another appliance from the grave yard! Tip: I had to use a short stubby Philips screwdriver in order to get the bracket off that clamps the coils down. Otherwise, I would have had to take the machine apart. If you don’t have the separate kick panel on the bottom on your dryer you will have to dive deeper into the dis assembly process to get to the gas valve assembly.

By the way… I measured the new coils and the old coils with an ohmmeter.

New Coil #1 (3 terminal)                              Old Coil #1
1-2 = 2.97K Ohms                                             1-2 = Open
2-3= 3.54K Ohms                                              2-3= Open
1-3= 2.1K Ohms                                                                1-3= 727 Ohms

New Coil #2 (2 terminal)                              Old Coil #2
1-2 = 1.45K ohms                                              1.276K ohms

We can now understand why the dryer was failing to activate the gas valve properly… The old coil with 3 terminals has opened up internally.

I hope this post helped you get your dryer repaired and back in operation with minimal cost and effort.

While you are here… I offer bearing and seal kits for washers at my www.washerbearings.com. If you have a Maytag Neptune, Whirlpool Duet, Kenmore Elite and others you can save big time and keep your machine out of the grave yard and keep more cash in your wallet!

Thank you,

Duet WFW9410XW00 Bearing and Tub Seal

Duet WFW9410XW00 Bearing and Tub Seal

Whirlpool Duet WFW9410XW00 owners… If your washing machine is sounding like a freight train then you will need to swap your bearings and tub seal. Once you notice it getting louder it is best to quit using it so you don’t cause more damage to machine.

If you happen to damage your Duet’s support bracket (spider) shaft you can remove it from stainless steel inner basket and take it to a machine shop to be repaired. They could install a sleeve or weld up then machine back down to correct diameter for new bearing. If the seal seat on the shaft is damaged then I don’t know of any repairs at this time for those since they are glued to the support bracket shaft.

The WFW9410XW00 bearing replacement is performed without any special tools and you should be able to complete it in 2 - 3 hours. You will need some room to disassemble machine because the tub is large and you will need room to separate it so you can take out the inner basket and support bracket. It also helps to remove the 3 counter weights to make the tub more manageable.

You can order your WFW9410XW00 tub bearings and seal at http://duetbearing.com/page9.html. These kits are shipped via US Priority Mail.

Here are some additional models this kit will work on:

led lights - Litepods Night light system

led lights

Here is an led light you can install in your home to light up your hallways and stairs. They are powered by 6 volts and can have a battery backup added for more safety and convenience. You can add up to (40) Litepods Emitters to a system which should cover most homes. These are considered low voltage lighting and night lights.

To install you simply run 22-2 wire from one location which could be in a closet or basement. That location should have 120 VAC outlet nearby or at least one close enough to run a 22-2 wire to so you can connect to the power supply. When running your wires... you can home run all of the wires from each Litepods Emitter or you can daisy chain them. You can also run a 22-2 wire from your basement to attic then attach to a LPTB board with is a terminal block board so you can connect the Litepods Emitters to the LPTB board. You will drill a 3/4" hole with a paddle bit and you can then pull the wire through. Next, you make your connections with the B connectors. Once you make all of your connections you can then power up the system.

Don't forget to run a 22-2 wire to a widow for the light sensor. You could keep the Litepods on all of the time if you cannot conveniently run a wire for the light sensor since they draw very little power. With the LPLS board you can use a switch, relay or open collector transistor to turn Litepods on and off if you don't want to use the light sensor.

Below is a typical system you would need to get started.

In hallways, I would recommend placing the Litepods Emitters every 3 to 5 feet depending on how much light you would like.

I hope this helped you.

How to change LED in a Litepods Emitter - Nightlights for kids

www.litepods.com - This video demonstrates how easy and quick it is to change an LED in a Litepods Emitter. The LED Emitters normally ship with a white LED installed. You may decide to change the color or go with an RGB LED which changes colors and are cool for nightlights for kids.

These Litepods Emitters are night lights that can be installed in bedroom ceilings near the door to illuminate that area so if they need to get up and go to bathroom in the night they can without turning on any lights. Imagine walking through your house with no lights on and not tripping on children's toys or going to the bathroom in the middle of the night without turning on bright lights that could wake your significant other...

You can install these LED Emitters in the ceiling or along stairs or under cabinets since they are considered low voltage lighting.

Maytag FAV6800 One Way Clutch vs One Way Bearing video

Washer Tub Bearings - Here is a video that compares the one way clutch to the special one way bearing. Your FAV6800 washer will have one or the other. You can replace your bearings and tub seal when they start to get loud.

It was believed that you could go by the first two digits of your serial number to determine if you had the special bearing or one way clutch. However, experience tells me otherwise and that is why I created this video for you.

There are two kits for you to choose from depending on if you have the one way clutch or the one way bearing. Watch the video...

If you need other appliance parts you can visit www.washerbearings.com/parts to order replacement parts other than tub bearings and seal and enter your model and see what they can do for you.

Leave your comments below and share with your family and friends that may have clothes washers so they will be aware that they can replace their bearings and tub seal and save a ton of money!

MAH7500AWW Bearing and Tub Seal – How To Replace them and save money

MAH7500AWW Bearing and Tub Seal – How To Replace them and save money

If you own a MAH7500 and it sounds like a jet plane then it is time to focus on your bearings and tub seal. If you bother a Maytag service technician they will want at least $950 to repair your Neptune or even suggest that you junk machine. You don’t really want to scrap machine because you can save money by replacing your Neptune bearings and tub seal and be washing clothes again. The reason they quote so much is because they will want to replace the large outer tub which runs over $500 alone!

The 12002022 seal kit contains two seals. The earlier lip seal and the revised lip seal. If you have the earlier lip seal (with plastic white spacer clip) you will need to replace it with the new earlier lip seal in the kit. If you would like to use the revised lip seal you will have to purchase a new spinner support because its’ shaft is machined different. Here is a video I created for the 12002022 seal kit breakdown.

It should take about 1 – 5 hours depending on how much cleaning you need to do while you’re in there and no special tools are required. You could save time by renting the Tony Tool which pulls the rear bearing out first. You then knock the front bearing out and then after some clean up you use the Tony Tool to install the new bearings and spacer. The tool kit rental includes an extra bearing spacer just in case you need it.

Depending on how long your machine has sounded like a jet plane you may need to heat up the aluminum hub when extracting the inner or front bearing. The aluminum has a higher expansion coefficient than the steel bearing does so the bearing housing should expand more than the bearing does thus loosening it up. Just don’t over heat it since some of the heat guns can really get hot.

Another tip is to stabilize the outer tub by laying the Neptune on its front and placing 2x4’s, old towels, newspaper stack under tub to help keep it from bouncing around when you attempt to knock out the front bearing. Now would also be a good time to spray penetrating oil on the inner bearing since it is closer to horizontal. You can allow the oil to soak in overnight. You will also want to place plywood or equivalent under tub to catch the bearing when it is ejected out.

The good news is that you don’t have the faulty brown tipped wax motor in your door latch. Only the timer knob based Neptune’s have the wax motor which would fail and damage the Q6 triac and R11 and the upper control board. The digital Neptune models all use a solenoid to lock the door. See Neptune Help Song for a video that explains what happens when the original brown tipped wax motor fails.

I hope this was helpful to you and you save money by replacing your bearings and tub seal.

If you have the earlier lip seal (with plastic white spacer clip) you will need to replace it with the new earlier lip seal in the kit. If you would like to install the revised lip seal you will have to replace your W10181639 spinner support because its shaft is machined different.

Kenmore Elite HE3 Bearing and Seal Kit – How To

Kenmore Elite HE3 Bearing and Seal Kit – How To

If you own a Kenmore Elite HE3 front load washer and it has morphed into a jet plane… I have great news!  You can replace your bearings and seal and save! I would expect 3 hours for the repair depending on how much cleaning you do while you have the Elite disassembled. You won’t need any special tools to replace the tub seal and bearings. See Elite Bearing for the tub bearing and seal kits. The Elite kit works on the HE3, HE3T, HE4, HE4T, HE5 and HE5T models. If you have the HE2 model you will need this 8540347 bearing and Seal kit.

When you notice the washer getting louder usually in high speed spin mode you will want to take action asap before the rust sets in the bearings. Otherwise, you may have a bearing that hangs up and scores the support bracket shaft. Whirlpool only offers the support brackets along with a new stainless steel basket as an assembly which drives up the cost considerably. If your support bracket shaft is damaged you can repair it by taking it to a machine shop where they can install a sleeve or weld up the area and machine it back down again for the new bearing.

I hope this was helpful.

Whirlpool Duet wfw9200sqa12 Bearing Kit – How To Replace

Whirlpool Duet wfw9200sqa12 Bearing Kit – How To

I have seen where some wfw9200sqa12 washers have been having the bearing failure. You can replace your wfw9200sqa12 tub bearings and seal. See www.washerbearings.com

In general, you have to dis assemble your wfw9200sqa12 to the point where you remove the large tub assembly and then you split it and then you can remove the inner stainless steel basket/support bracket assembly. Take some digital photos along the way to help the reassembly process.

Once you have the rear tub all to itself, you can pry the worn seal out and that should expose the front ( or inner) bearing. I use a socket and extension to tap out the smaller rear bearing first. Note: Check for a retainer clip (snap ring) on the rear bearing before you start tapping it. After rear bearing is out I then turn the tub over and start tapping the front bearing.

When tapping in new bearings keep the impacts on the outer race of bearing because you can damage new bearing if you tap on the inner race when installing it in a bearing housing. Reverse the process and reassemble machine, test run and look for any leaks and notice the quietness J

Maytag Appliance Parts 22004473 Motor Control Board - LR error code

Maytag Appliance Parts 22004473 Motor Control Board

If you open up the top section you should discover a document in there that has the wiring diagram and diagnostic tests you can run on your Neptune.
The 'LR' error code means Locked Rotor and usually shows up if the motor drive system is not following what the machine control board (MCB) is instructing it to do. The MCB instructs the motor control board how fast and how which direction to rotate the inner basket. I would also check that the belt is still on the pulleys.
Sometimes the motor control board has simply failed and does not rotate the basket or it could be that the speed sensor on the motor has quit working or has a bad connection. I will check all of the connectors in the machine and clean them by removing the connectors and reinstalling them. The sliding action will clean the connector pins if there is oxidation built up on the pins. Just make sure you install the connectors in the exact same position they were originally. When working around the motor control board which is located near the floor I would take a look at the board and see if there are any physical burnt components, leaking or bulging capacitors, etc.
After inspecting all of the connectors in the machine that you can get to I would retest the motor drive. If it does not rotate the basket and you still get the LR error code it is time to replace the motor control board. In 99% of failures the motor control board fails, not the motor. You can visit www.22004473.com for more information on the replacement motor control boards.

Please visit www.washerbearings.com/parts to order replacement parts other than tub bearings and seal. and enter your model number and they can look up the part you need.

Maytag Neptune Washer Seal Replacement - How to replace

Maytag Neptune washer seal replacement - If you notice your Maytag Neptune front load washer starting to sound like a freight train you should know that it is time... Time to replace your Maytag Neptune bearing and seal.

Although, you can rent the special Neptune bearing tool kit you can replace the bearings without it. The photo above shows the Neptune bearing and a revised lip seal, o ring and installation cup.

If you have the earlier lip seal you cannot install the revised lip seal because the spinner support shaft is machined different than the spinner support shaft that uses the revised lip seal. If you replace the Neptune spinner support it will come with the revised lip seal.

I would recommend having a large 8 pound hammer available just in case when replacing your Neptune tub bearings...

Let me know if you have any questions.
