As you're replacing your Maytag Neptune bearings and tub seal it would be a good time to perform some housekeeping while in there.
If your washer is over 8 years old you will probably have some soap and debris build up on the backside of the inner stainless steel basket and on the inside of the large outer tub. Some clients have used a power washer to carefully clean their Neptune washers. If you decide to use a power washer make sure you protect any electronic circuit boards and keep them dry. You have the motor control board down by the floor on the right side and the machine control board is located in the top console section.
Another option is to remove the outer tub from cabinet and take out back and spray it so you don't risk getting something wet that should not be wet.
The tub cover has a arched brush on the bottom have to help keep things from getting between the inner basket and outer tub. The brush will probably be gunky. You cannot replace just the brush as it is part of the tub cover.

Feel free to leave feedback below and let me know how you decided to clean your Neptune washer while you had it apart during your bearing and tub seal change.
