Maytag Neptune Repair:
Q: My Neptune will not drain and the nd service code is in the display. what is this and how can i fix it. Thanks
A: Ahhh, the ND error code on a digital Neptune front load washer. The ND code means 'No Drain' and it is probably just something caught in the pump. I’ve seen where a coin can get in there and keep the pump from starting.
Some other items known to stop a Neptune pump: Rubber backing from a rug, rubber bands, bobbie pin, lens from a flashlight, tooth pick and a bra wire. Maybe you had something different in your pump? If so, please comment with what you discovered in your pump...
If you have a floor drain you should be able to drop the discharge hose to the floor and let gravity pull the water out so you can take the pump out and get a good look at it.
Also a word of advice to avoid wasting time. The pump is usually towards the front of the machine.
Until next time...

P.S.S. If you notice your Neptune getting louder in the spin cycle see Neptune Bearing for information on how you can save $700 by replacing your bearings yourself and getting 5 - 10 more years out of your machine.

Ok this is so easy! my Neptune is 5 years old front loader stoped draining nd code took off back silver panel the pump and hose is right there with a clamp on it. Remove and have a towel in case a some water comes out, mine had a nickle in it grabed out with some needle nose and BINGO!
I have this problem on my MAH5500BWW, but if I put it on the spin cycle after the wash is complete, it will pump out the water and spin the clothes dry (or at least as dry as it did before i started getting ND).
Is this the same problem, or should I keep looking?
Correction: my washer actually displays NF, not ND.
Kevin, The Error code "nf" is No Fill.
Turn off the water and remove your fill hoses at the washer. Inside the inlet to the water valve there are inlet screens. Use a thin knife blade or a scribe on the outside of the screens and remove them. Wash them under slowly running water while rubbing them with your fingers to clean them off. After cleaning reinstall the screens and connect your hoses to the washer.
Next remove the hoses at the wall faucet / hose Bibb and check for inlet screens in the hoses. If there are inlet screens in the hoses at the wall connection remove them and clean them. Otherwise reconnect the hoses.. turn on the water... check for leaks and test your machine for proper filling.
If it still does not fill or you get the nf code again you most likely have a bad inlet water valve. Either the diaphragm is stuck or... one of the water valve solenoids has failed. The solenoids and water valve assemblies are NOT repairable. IF they fail the only remedy is replacement. Solenoids will read resistance with a meter. The resistance should be the same for both solenoids. If either one of them reads open the water valve must be replaced.
Let me know what you find...
I took out the pump and found it was plugged with a nickel. Cost me less than that to fix. Good advice.nor
Maytag Neptune "ND" problem. A while back, our Neptune was making noise when draining. I found out the pump impeller was worn of the shaft. Being a machinist, I made a bushing to go into the impeller and all was good for quite a few months. Well yesterday it failed. Having a ton of laundry to do, I found a new pump in the next town although a tad more expensive than if I had bought it online. Anyways, we got the pump put in and all seemed fine other than I get the "ND" fault code. The washer will spin, but not as fast as it should. I am going to pull the new pump to make sure the flap is opening and the drain hose is clear. If all is good there, what else could the problem be? I hate to throw good money away if parts are going to start running into the hundreds. If that is the case, We'll buy a new washer / dryer combo. THe model of pur is a MAH5500AWW, all digital front panel and maybe 10 years old. Thank you in advance for any answers that may help fix this.
Hi, you can call 1-800-369-0999 and give them your model and serial number and they can look up all of your washing machine's replacement parts. Let me know how the new pump worked.
My Neptune MAH8700 had been giving me troubles, stopping in the mid cycle with either a Nd or Nf code. I replace the inlet valves still the same issue. I decided to check the water pressure sensor and found a post where they blew into the line that comes off the bottom of the sensor. I felt some resistance and then it cleared. I could hear bubbling in the drum. I hooked everything back up and now there have been no issues
