Neptune Bearing Replacement - How To

Neptune Bearing Replacement - How To

If you have a Maytag Neptune Front load washer there will come a time when it starts to morph into a jet plane or even a freight train..

Since you probably don't want a jet plane in your home you will want to replace your Neptune tub bearings and seal asap.

You can replace your washer bearings without the special Neptune bearing replacement tool or Tony Tool if you're handy with tools. The tool kit does save you time and effort when changing your bearings. The tool kit rental includes the tub bearings, 12002022 seal kit, bearing spacer, 2" wire wheel and step by step DVD. You can order the Maytag Neptune bearing and 12002022 Seal Kit HERE and it works on all solid door (no window) panel Neptune's.

You can find other washer bearing and seal kits HERE.

I hope this post was helpful.

Thank you,

Jeff Hartman

P.S. For other appliance parts you can visit www.washerbearings.com/parts get new replacement parts for your appliances.

Otherwise you can always use the Neptune Washer Back up Plan which is shown below...

Brody Stevens and Little Esther hangin with the Neptune Man

Here is a recent photo of me with Little Esther, Tonia, Brody Stevens. I bought a Groupon for a local show in the Columbus, Ohio area and it included a photo op. I thought... What the heck… Let’s get my photo taken with a couple of well known comedians. I will tell you more about Tonia later. She is creating a helpful website that will come in very handy for a lot of people.

Speaking of websites… If you have a washing machine… I offer special bearing and seal kits for when they start to get loud which usually indicates a tub bearing failure. I even rent a cool tool for the Maytag Neptune front load washers to help you save time and effort when replacing Neptune tub bearings. You can visit my main site at www.washerbearings.com which branches out to the different models.

Since I specialize in the tub bearing and seal kits you order the bearing and seal kits only from my sites and you can order other appliance parts by visiting www.washerbearings.com/parts to order replacement parts. Just have your model and serial numbers handy to help them look you your replacement parts.

I'm now officially called the "Neptune Man" and here is my song Vicky made for me http://neptunewasher.blogspot.com/2012/11/hey-neptune-man-song.html

Until next time…

MAH3000 Maytag Neptune pump question

MAH3000 Maytag Neptune pump question.

Hi. I have a Maytag Neptune washer that seems to go through the whole cycle just fine, except for the fact that the water doesn't drain out. It happened to me awhile ago and someone told me I was using too much soap. I cut down on soap and everything did work great for several months, but now it is worse than ever.

Already Tried: running the rinse cycle again, which worked in the past, but not anymore

Answer:

You have a problem with the pump, either something has gotten into it and is blocking the water flow or the pump itself is bad or the water discharge path is clogged.

See Neptune disassembly photos or videos at Neptune Help. The pump is powered from a set of timer contacts and if you rotate the timer knob you should find spots where there should be 120 VAC on the pump electrical terminals.

If the machine is full of water and you have a floor drain nearby you can lay down the drain hose and gravity will allow the water to drain from machine (unless the water path is clogged with lint or debris).

Once the water is out you can remove the pump and take the cover off of it to inspect it for any lint and debris that could keep the impeller from spinning or the motor could be bad.

To order a new pump simply enter your model number into the Appliance Parts Search box on this blog or at Neptune Help. This tool will give you exploded views and prices of all the parts in your machine and you can simply order new parts and repair your Neptune yourself and save lots of cash.

Don't forget... The MAH3000's as well as any Maytag Neptune front loader with a timer knob has the faulty door latch wax motor. If your MAH3000 serial number starts with 10 - 25 you have 2 more wax motors in the soap dispenser that should be replaced as well before they fail.

The faulty wax motors have the brownish color actuator tip.

The residential models are MAH3000, MAH4000, MAH5500A and the 2000 stackers. The digital machines do not have the wax motor issue.

You can order new wax motors from Neptune help.

Below is the new style with the black actuator tip.

Another item I can help you with is your Neptune bearings. If you notice your machine transforming into a jet engine when it starts to ramp up then it is time for new bearings and seal. If you bother the repairman they will kindly ask you for $900 which includes replacing your large outer tub. Don't do it! You can replace your bearings yourself for a lot less.

You can also rent a special tool kit that includes a step by step DVD that shows you how to do it.

See Neptune bearing for more information.

Maytag Neptune Bearing 12002022 Revised Seal Install How-To

Maytag Neptune Bearing 12002022 Revised Seal Install How-To for solid door Neptune front loaders

Hi Neptuner!

I have to say that I am impressed… I asked a Neptuner to shoot his Neptune… oops, I meant shoot some video when replacing the revised lip seal on a Maytag Neptune front load washer and Jeff C. stepped up and sealed the deal!

Here is the video I put together from Jeff’s footage he shot after replacing his (MAH5500B series) Neptune bearings and 12002022 seal kit. It shows the revised lip seal installation. Jeff also purchased a new Neptune Spinner Support for his machine. If you purchase a Neptune bearing and seal kit from me and buy the new spinner support I will refund $40 when you send the 12002022 seal kit back. The new spinner support comes with a revised seal kit. This will offset your spinner support payment by $40!

If you’re not aware… The Neptune 12002022 seal kit includes 2 seals so it will work on both spinner support designs. The thinner seal is the earlier seal and should be used if your machine had the white plastic spacer ("a" clip) between the front bearing and seal. That video is here. The thicker seal is the revised lip seal.

Note: When installing the revised lip seal make sure that the ribs are towards the front bearing and the smooth section will be towards the stainless steel tub so it is not in backwards.

See Neptune Bearing for more information. I also offer the 12002533 door boot, 12002535 wax motor and the 12001788 belt at a discount when you rent the Neptune bearing tool kit.

Maytag Neptune Bearing Seal Kit Install How-To

Hi Neptuner!

Here is a video I created when I was replacing Loretta's MAH4000 Maytag Neptune bearings and 12002022 seal kit. It shows the earlier lip seal installation. The 12002022 seal kit includes 2 seals so it will work on both spinner support setups. The thinner seal is the earlier seal and should be used if your machine had the white plastic spacer ("a" clip) between the front bearing and seal.

See Neptune Bearing for more information. I also offer the 12002533 door boot, 12002535 wax motor and the 12001788 belt at a discount when you rent the Neptune bearing tool kit.

Do you own a Maytag Neptune MAH8700 or MAH9700?

Have you seen the Maytag Neptune recall page?

See http://www.washerrecall.com/ for information. Certain serial numbers are only affected and there is a box where you can enter your country, model and serial to see if your Neptune has the recall.

The issue is a potential fire hazard if water drips onto a thermal sensor connector. Please check it out if you own a MAH8700 or a MAH9700 Neptune.

If you own a MAH3000, MAH4000, MAH5500A or a 2000 stacker Neptune please check http://www.neptunehelp.com/ to see if your Neptune has the defective door latch wax motor which will eventually short out and damage the control board. You can proactively replace this component and prevent the control board failure.

Maytag MAH3000AWW MAH4000AWW Neptune Washer Does Not Spin

Here is another blog question regarding the Maytag Neptune no spin failure taken from the appliance junk site...

"This Maytag MAH3000AWW Neptune washer would not spin. During the spin cycle the door lock light would come on and the main motor would run, but the washer just would not take off and spin. This is often a simple and easy repair, but not cheap. You can help save yourself some money by doing the repair yourself. The first thing you will want to do is disconnect the power to the washer. Simply unplug the power cord. Next remove the three screws on top of the control counsel. With the three screws removed you will be able to tip the control panel forward and look at the electronic control board behind the timer. Most often then not the resistor marked R-11 is burnt up. If this is the case you will need to replace the machine control board. The reason the R-11 resistor burnt up is because the wax motor in the door lock is also bad, so you will need to replace it too. This same “No Spin” problem also happens with the MAH4000 series Maytag Neptune washers."

Here is my response: If you replace only the R11 and not the Q6 triac then R11 will smoke again and you can cause further damage to the control board. The Q6 triac must be replaced when R11 burns! The http://www.appliancejunk.com/ forum does not know this because they are not experts on the Maytag Neptunes.

I also don't like how parts suppliers hide the real Maytag part numbers so you can't compare prices... This is typically deceptive marketing and usually indicates their prices are inflated. You can get the R11 and Q6 repair kit along with the wax motor at http://www.neptunewaxmotor.com/. If after you replace the R11 and Q6 and the machine will not fill with water then the control board will have to be replaced.

Here are some control board numbers: MAH3000 serial number starting with (10 to 16) - 12001725 MAH3000 serial number starting with (17 and up) - 22002988 MAH4000 - 22002989 MAH5500AWW - 22002989

If you have a 2000 stacker series please contact me and I can look up your control board part number.

Don't forget that the older MAH3000's have two more wax motors in the dispenser area that will eventually fail, too. If your serial number starts with (26) then you should be OK since Maytag incorporated the bleach and softener functions into the water valve assembly.

Until next time...

More Maytag Neptune chatter... from Internet.

I watch blogs and forums to see if folks are talking about the Maytag Neptune...

Here is one quote from savvydollar.org: " Posted: Sat Apr 26, 2008 9:24 pm Post subject: I've had a Maytag Neptune since 2000. It's been involved in a class action lawsuit. I like the way it washes and spins the heck out of the clothes. That way it takes less time to dry. Trouble is the computer has broken and the door latch switch has broken and something else. Good thing my DH is an engineer and very handy, otherwise this very expensive washer would've been in the dump many years ago! The other thing is you can put a TON of clothes in them and they use WAY less detergent and water than regular washers. They are a great idea, just stay away from Maytag. The next thing that goes on mine will be the last straw! It will be out the door...HTH_________________Jeanette Collopy"

Wow jeanette, you and every Neptune owner will have trouble (if you have not had any yet...), The door latch wax motor is the most common failure and you can prevent it if you replace your wax motor before it fails. My site http://www.neptunewaxmotor.com/ specializes in the Neptune front loaders. The machines that will have this failure are the 2000 Stacker, MAH3000, MAH4000 and the MAH5500A series.

The MAH5500B series is not affected because Maytag replaced the wax motor with a real solenoid to lock the door. There is a new chapter with the MAH3000's and that is there are two more wax motors in the dispenser area that control the bleach and softener. When these go they will trip the circuit breaker.

Luckily, the machine control board will not be damaged but the timer contacts that control these wax motors could be. See http://neptunewasher.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html for a photo of a melted down wax motor from the dispenser area.

The next part to go after your Neptune gets older will be the bearings, I have a fix for those as well. You will notice that your Neptune will get louder in the high speed spin cycle to where you can't even share the same space as the Neptune. Folks have told me they were quoted $950 - $1,300 for this repair but with my kit you can get going for under $90.

Until next time...
