Maytag Neptune Bearing Replacement Tip

Maytag Neptune Bearing Replacement Tip

I received this email from a Tony Tool renter after replacing his Maytag Neptune bearings... Obviously, WD was watching the instructional DVD that comes with the Neptune bearing tool kit rental.

"Hey Jeff Your tool was mailed this morning. Let me know if you need a tracking #. What a great tool. I took longer to get the grease off the DVD player remote control, then fixing the Maytag............wd"

Tip: Place your remote control in a plastic bag to keep the grease off of it  :)

You can save time and effort by renting the Neptune bearing tool kit HERE.

If you own a Laundromat you can purchase your own Tony Tool at www.neptunekits.com as well as bulk bearing and seal kits. Heck, why not start your own side business replacing bearings for Neptune owners in your area? After you do... make sure you take some wax motors with you in your tool box and change those out as well as I am still selling plenty of my STAGE 1 Q6 R11 repair kits with wax motor to repair the MAH3000, MAH4000, MAH5500A and the 2000 stacker's which all have a timer knob. The digital Neptune's do not have the faulty wax motor issue.

MAH3000 Maytag Neptune pump question

MAH3000 Maytag Neptune pump question.

Hi. I have a Maytag Neptune washer that seems to go through the whole cycle just fine, except for the fact that the water doesn't drain out. It happened to me awhile ago and someone told me I was using too much soap. I cut down on soap and everything did work great for several months, but now it is worse than ever.

Already Tried: running the rinse cycle again, which worked in the past, but not anymore

Answer:

You have a problem with the pump, either something has gotten into it and is blocking the water flow or the pump itself is bad or the water discharge path is clogged.

See Neptune disassembly photos or videos at Neptune Help. The pump is powered from a set of timer contacts and if you rotate the timer knob you should find spots where there should be 120 VAC on the pump electrical terminals.

If the machine is full of water and you have a floor drain nearby you can lay down the drain hose and gravity will allow the water to drain from machine (unless the water path is clogged with lint or debris).

Once the water is out you can remove the pump and take the cover off of it to inspect it for any lint and debris that could keep the impeller from spinning or the motor could be bad.

To order a new pump simply enter your model number into the Appliance Parts Search box on this blog or at Neptune Help. This tool will give you exploded views and prices of all the parts in your machine and you can simply order new parts and repair your Neptune yourself and save lots of cash.

Don't forget... The MAH3000's as well as any Maytag Neptune front loader with a timer knob has the faulty door latch wax motor. If your MAH3000 serial number starts with 10 - 25 you have 2 more wax motors in the soap dispenser that should be replaced as well before they fail.

The faulty wax motors have the brownish color actuator tip.

The residential models are MAH3000, MAH4000, MAH5500A and the 2000 stackers. The digital machines do not have the wax motor issue.

You can order new wax motors from Neptune help.

Below is the new style with the black actuator tip.

Another item I can help you with is your Neptune bearings. If you notice your machine transforming into a jet engine when it starts to ramp up then it is time for new bearings and seal. If you bother the repairman they will kindly ask you for $900 which includes replacing your large outer tub. Don't do it! You can replace your bearings yourself for a lot less.

You can also rent a special tool kit that includes a step by step DVD that shows you how to do it.

See Neptune bearing for more information.

Maytag Neptune Front Loader Repair Tip

Maytag Neptune Front Loader Repair Tip:

Hi Neptuner!

I was looking through some photos of you repairing your Neptunes and I noticed that some of you were not wearing safety glasses!

Listen up, did you know that you can buy cool safety glasses for less than $10? They have come along way from the 'goggles'... Check out the "Safety Glasses" link below now and order you some cool safety glasses to have around the house so you don't have an excuse not to wear them.

Whether you are replacing your Neptune Bearings or the faulty door latch wax motor you need to wear cool safety glasses! I also highly recommend that you wear them when soldering on your control board as well...

Be safe... Remember you need your vision and you need to protect it!

Maytag Neptune Saved From The No Spin Firing Squad!

Hi Neptuner!

I saved another Maytag Neptune front loader from the No-Spin firing squad...

Yes, this Neptune suffered the door latch wax motor failure and would not spin so it was saved by replacing the R11 resistor and Q6 triac on the machine control board to get it up and spinning again. To date I've sold over 5,300 120025235 wax motors! I'm sure that there are thousands more Neptune’s out there just waiting to fail.

Did you know that this failure can be prevented by proactively replacing your 12002535 door latch wax motor? See Neptune Help for more info. There is a cool video that explains the issue too. Check it out!

As your Neptune matures it will start to transform itself into a jet and get really loud in spin cycle. Don't give it 'take off' clearance because it was not designed for flight. Keep your Neptune grounded by replacing your bearings and 12002022 seal kit. See Neptune Bearing for more information.

Iron Man 2 is on its way in April! AC/DC Rocks!

Wow, I just received an email from ACDC.com Stating that:

AC/DC: Iron Man 2 Out April 19"Shoot To Thrill" World Video Premiere Today

Super! So I had to check it out! Here is the link to the new AC/DC video with Ironman clips!

Great going Brian Johnson and company! You guys earned the soundtrack for the new Iron Man 2 movie. The album cover looks really sweet! I still love the 'Big Gun' video on YouTube from the 'Last Action Hero' movie! What a great tune! Maybe you should have put that one on the new sound track as well?

I wonder if any Maytag Neptune front load parts were used for the Iron Man suit? If so, I hope they changed the faulty door latch wax motor.... See Neptune Help Song for a video that explains the issue.

How To Repair Electronic Components

Hi Neptuners!

Recently, I had a chance to go through some email responses I received from you after you repaired your Maytag Neptune washer.

I can't believe how many successful machine control board repairs you have completed since I have been offering the Q6 R11 repair kits. You of all people... because most of you have never soldered before! That is crazy! I know someone would have said "that can't be done.. you can't have homeowners soldering on their Maytag Neptune control board...". Boy, am I glad I did not listen to them! Looking in Quickbooks I have sold over 4,300 wax motors!

I then got to thinking that I don't know how many times I've taken a broken electronic device apart and repaired it. I like to see if I can fix it before pitching it... Some devices had a broken wire or lead. Some devices I did not find anything but they worked when I reassembled them?

I decided to write this because I ran across a couple of e-books you might be interested in. The first one teaches you how to test electronic components like a pro and the second ebook teaches you how to find the value of a burnt resistor.

If you have an interest in learning more about electronics or repairing devices then these books should help you. I was putting together some links for electronic circuit type kits, too. I will post those once I have them all compiled.

Electronics can be a rewarding hobby and who knows you could even invent a new device? I received my electronics training in high school and at Devry and have been playing with electronics since then. Actually, it helped me develop the Q6 R11 repair kit company that started with my http://www.neptunewaxmotor.com/ site.

Slightly off topic today with portable Generators

Hi Neptuners!

It seems that we rely on our homes to be energized with electricity to run all sorts of time and labor saving devices.

What happens when your power line is severed during an ice storm or a car collides with a utility pole?

I asked myself the same question and decided to be prepared. I recently purchased a propane generator. Actually, it was a Christmas gift for myself. ;-) It is a 3,500 watt model, single phase 120 VAC. I figure it will run the furnace (natural gas), fridge, freezer, sump pump and some lighting. It uses the standard grill type propane tanks and should run about 9 hours at half load.

Once I received it... I filled the oil (.6 qt.) up and hooked up the propane tank and fired it up. I was impressed with how quiet it was. How useful is a generator just sitting there? Not very... I also purchased a 30 amp, 120 VAC inlet box, 10 ft. 10-3 generator hook up cable, the Square D breaker panel generator interlock kit, 30amp 2 pole breaker, 15/15 tandom breaker, 10 ft. 10-2 w/gnd romex wire and misc. hardware.

I plan to install all of the components during my holiday break until Jan 4th! I will shoot some video for you to see like I did for the DVD duplicator I purchased last month. The DVD duplicator has produced about 50 mini DVDs, 35 CD's and so far has done a great job for me so if you need to do some CD or DVD duplication check out the DVD Duplicator site I put up.

I also put up a quick generator site you can check out, too. I love putting up websites... can't you tell!

If you would like to put up some websites I am putting together a training class to teach folks how to put up websites step-by-step. Contact me at neptunewasher@gmail.com if you're interested in putting up websites.

As always, if you have a Maytag Neptune with a timer knob... check out Neptune Help Song for a video that explains the faulty door latch wax motor issue.

Until next time...

Maytag Neptune How to video - Wax Motor inspection

Maytag Neptune Washer Video - How to disassemble your Neptune for Wax Motor Inspection

I get the question "How do I know if I have the faulty wax motor in my Neptune's door latch?" all of the time so I decided to create a video that shows the Neptune disassembly.

See www.Neptunehelp.com to order your replacement 12002535 wax motor. Maytag redesigned the wax motor and when they did they specified that the tip be black so you could easily identify if you have the faulty design or the new design.

I have a cute video at www.NeptuneHelpSong.com that explains what happens if you don't proactively change your faulty door latch wax motor.

If your machine has a timer knob (non digital) then yours shipped with the faulty wax motor.

Maytag Neptune repair - door latch wax motor

Maytag Neptune Repair

I just finished a new video that shows how to replace the door latch wax motor in the maytag neptune door latch. Here is the Neptune Wax Motor Video link.

If you have a Maytag Neptune front loader with a timer knob you will want to inspect your wax motor and make sure it has a black actuator pin. If it has the brownish color actuator pin then you will want to replace it as soon as possible.

Keep in mind that if you have a MAH3000 model with the serial number starting with a 10 thru 25 then you will have two more wax motors in the soap dispenser. These control the bleach and softener flows.

See Neptune help for more valuable Neptune front loader information.

Maytag Neptune Washer - Bearing Spacer Question

Maytag Neptune Washer - Bearing Spacer Question:
I've been asked a few times lately regarding the installation of the new bearing spacer so I wanted to post the answer here. If you will look at the picture you will notice one end of the spacer is flat and the other end has a slight bevel.

The beveled end goes towards the rear of washer because you don't want the spacer rubbing the seal on the rear bearing.

If you have a Maytag Neptune front load washer check out Maytag Neptune Bearing for replacement bearings and the seal kit. When you notice your Neptune getting loud in the high speed spin cycle is when it is time to change your bearings. You don't want to wait too long to change them because the bearings will eventually fall apart and that will make it more difficult to get them out of there.

One last thing... If your Neptune front loader has the timer dial, you need to see if you have the faulty door latch wax motor. See Maytag Neptune wax motor for a video that explains the issue.

Until next time...

front load washers - Maytag Neptune Update

Front load washers are here to stay! Do you own an earlier Maytag Neptune front loader? If so, you need to be aware of some reliability issues.

First, the door latch wax motor is probably the most problematic component on the Neptune. The original devices short out over time and burn the R11 resistor and the Q6 triac on the machine control board. You can prevent your R11 & Q6 failure by proactively replacing your faulty door latch wax motor. The part number is 12002535 and you can purchase the new replacement at http://www.neptunehelp.com/.

If you have a MAH3000 Neptune, you could have 3 wax motors in there waiting to fail... The soap dispenser on the earlier MAH3000's have 2 wax motors that control the bleach and softener flow and should be replaced.

The original wax motors have the brownish color actuator pin and the new design has the black pin.

Next, we will talk about the next item you should be aware of being a Neptuner.

Maytag Washer Update - Fatal Friday for Analog TV

Hi Neptuners,

Well, the time has come to kill the analog tv signal...

Friday, June 12th is the last day for the analog television broadcasting and you can bet that there will be confusion when folks' non-digital tvs won't work anymore. If you remember, we were going to lose the analog signal back in February, 2009 but the government decided to extend the switch off for 4 more months due to folks not being prepared for the switch over.

At least until they purchase the digital tv converter box which will receive the digital transmission and converter it to channel 3 or 4 like the VCRs and DVD players do. You can get a coupon for $40 off which makes the box like $10.00.

Can you remember back when color tv sets were added... At least your black and white set still worked with the new color signal because the engineers made them compatible without upgrading the black and white receivers. With the new digital transition, it was impossible to make an analog tv receive and decode the digital signals without any hardware upgrades. The low-cost converter box was the only solution.

Otherwise, if you have a cable box then you will be good to go and probably are enjoying the digital tv already.

If you own a Maytag washer, specifically the Neptune Front Loader please check out http://www.neptunehelp.com/ before the faulty door latch wax motor kills your washer... If you proactively replace the door latch wax motor, part number 12002535, then you can prevent the failure from happening in the first place. We can't make your Neptune go digital but we can keep it running longer!

Maytag Neptune Help feedback

Hi Neptuners!

Here is feedback I received today after Chuck had changed his Neptune bearings and seal.

"Thank You Thank You Thank You I have completed the bearing replacement on my Neptune washer and all is well. It is again working like new. I have one question, my unit is a 5500BWW, do I need to replace the wax motor, or did Maytag make the change with that model #. Thanks again. Chuck S."

That's great news Chuck! Your MAH5500BWW does not have the faulty 12002535 door latch wax motor so you are OK. Jeff

If your Neptune is screaming at you while in high speed spin cycle goto http://neptunebearing.com/page4.html to purchase the replacement bearings and 12002022 seal kit.

The Neptune Help Song voting is offically closed...

It looks like the new Neptune Help Song at http://www.neptunehelpsong.com/ is a winner!

Here are the results:

(22) folks say the song was awesome
(16) folks say the song was pretty good
(1) folks say the song was average
(0) folks say they were slightly impressed
(4) folks say they were not impressed

Honestly, I was disappointed with the total number of votes (43) as I expected more votes in the 3 week voting period considering that I have sold almost 4,000 12002535 wax motors in the last three years and there are 1,000's more Neptunes that will fail due to the faulty door latch wax motor.

We need to reach these Maytag Neptune owners before their wax motor fails so we can save them a $450 repair bill!

If you can think of anyone to send a link to that may have a Neptune or know someone who has a Neptune please do so... You can send them to http://www.neptunehelpsong.com/ so they can learn about the faulty door latch wax motor.

Thank you!

They have Maytag Neptunes over the pond?

Hi Neptuners,

I just shipped a STAGE 1 Q6 R11 repair kit + wax motor over the pond to New South Wales, Australia! I would like to welcome Andrew E. to the Neptuner club. We Neptuners all love our Neptunes... Especially, after the faulty door latch wax motor is replaced (hopefully you replaced it before it failed).

Did you know that Australia had Maytag Neptune front load washers? Actually, I was taken by surprise...

Recently, I shipped another STAGE 1 Q6 R11 repair kit + wax motor all the way to Israel.

Maybe I need to put flags on my http://www.neptunehelp.com/ site for countries that I ship the Maytag Neptune STAGE 1 repair kits too. So far, I have shipped STAGE 1 kits to United States, Canada, Israel and Australia.

Don’t forget to vote for the http://www.neptunehelpsong.com/ song. You only have 7 days left!

Jeff

The Maytag Neptune Help song is now online!

Hi Neptuners,

I finally finished the Neptune Help Song that explains the faulty door latch wax motor on the Maytag Neptune front loaders.

Every Neptune that has the original door latch wax motor, part 12002535, will fail eventually and burn Q6 and R11 on the machine control board. Now, my goal is to help Neptuners prevent the Q6 R11 failure by proactively replacing the faulty wax motor.

Also, I would like your feedback on what you think about the song. I have a poll on the top right where you can vote 1 -5, where 5 is awesome.

Your homework is to tell everyone about this song so we can help Neptuners all around the world replace the wax motor before it fails. Feel free to post links on your blogs and websites.

The new song is at www.neptunehelpsong.com.

Check it out...

Thank you,

Jeff

Maytag Neptune help... This ain't Ole Lonely?

This is not Ole Lonely working on his Maytag Neptune MAH3000...
Actually, Mark, a Neptuner out in California, decided to take matters into his own hands and replace his door latch wax motor (12002535) and repair his machine control board. The Q6 triac and R11 resistor burnt because of the defective wax motor. By the way the typical Ole Lonely quote is $450 to replace the control board and wax motor!
In addition, every Neptune front loader that shipped with the wax motor will fail. If you know anyone who has a Neptune front loader please tell them.
As for more Neptuners saving money see http://www.neptunehelp.com/index_files/Page327.htm

Maytag Neptune Front Loader Washer Wax Motor Question

Here is another Maytag Neptune question I received today...

Q: Hi, I have a MAH7500AWQ that the motor stopped working. I need the motor upgrade kit (motor & control board) and as a precaution I wanted to put a fuse in the Wax motor circuit (protect the board) and get a new wax motor for when the one I have dies. What do you suggest?

A: Hello, I would suggest that you don't have to worry about the door latch wax motor because your Neptune does not have one... In addition, I don't recommend making any changes to any appliance in the name of safety. If the Engineers felt that the door latch wax motor needed a fuse they would have put one in the circuit. I'm sure that when the Neptune was on the drawing board they did not foresee a design problem with the wax motor.

The Neptune models affected by the faulty wax motor are the MAH3000, MAH4000, MAH5500A and the 2000 Stackers. If you know anyone with a Neptune front loader please rush them to this blog or the www.neptunehelp.com site so they can replace it before it fails. If your machine won’t spin because the door locked light doesn’t come on and you have one of the affected models listed above then you probably have become a victim of the Maytag Neptune Wax Motor Meltdown. Note: I highly recommend that you don’t keep trying to start your Neptune because you can damage the lower motor control board as well.

Listen, you have 2 options… 1) Replace the machine control and the wax motor at http://neptunehelp.com/index_files/Page667.htm or, 2) purchase the STAGE 1 repair kit with wax motor and see if your Neptune will come to life. About 45 out of 50 boards work without a problem.

Occasionally, I get folks whose boards refuse to fill with water which have to be replaced because they suffered more damage… maybe they did not heed my warning about trying to keep starting up machine?

Look, you would have had to replace the control board anyway… When ordering your control board, it depends on your model and serial number as to which board you need. The simplest replacement is the MAH4000 and the MAH5500A Neptunes as these both use the 22002989 control board.

The MAH3000 has two different control boards based on the model suffix and 1st two digits of serial number. Here is a breakdown: MAH3000AWW - (10-16) 12001725 or (17 - present) 22002988 MAH3000AWA - (10-16) 12001725 or (17 - present) 22002988 MAH3000AWQ - (10 - present) 22002988 MAH3000AKW - (10 - present) 22002988 MAH3000AAW - (10 - present) 22002917 MAH3000AEW - (10 - present) 22002917 MAH3000AGW - (10 - present) 22002917 MAH3000BGW - (10 - present) 22002917 (50 hertz) Note: I just checked and I don't see any 22002917 control boards in stock...

 I hope this helps!

Until next time...
