MAH6700 Bearing and Seal Kit - Maytag Neptune

MAH6700 Bearing and Seal Kit - Maytag Neptune

Hi Neptuner!

Ok... I may be ahead of the curve here but I just added the MAH6700 bearing and seal kit to my Neptune Bearing order form. It will just be a matter of time before this model needs bearings and the seal replaced so you can save a ton of money by doing it yourself.

So when your Neptune MAH6700 sounds like a jet plane taking off when it enters spin cycle you should replace the bearings and seal as soon as you can so you don't cause excessive damage to the spinner support shaft.

Until next time...

Maytag Neptune Question about the W10181639 Spinner Support

Hi Neptuner!

Here is a Maytag Neptune Spinner Support question that I received lately...

"I have a spinner support with a broken bolt stud. Can you replace the bolt studs in the spinner support, or do you have to replace the entire spinner support? If I have to replace the spinner support, do you have them and what does it cost? I will also replace the bearing and seal when I fix the spinner support."

A: I've had Neptuners successfully replace a broken stud on the spinner supports. You will want stainless steel replacement hardware. Sometimes the end of the spinner support arm corroded away and the spinner support needed replaced. You can order a new Neptune spinner support at w10181639.com. Note: I have a photo of a brand spankin' new spinner support above...

In addition, the new spinner support comes with the revised lip seal, too. So if you're replacing your bearings you can get a $40 refund if you purchased bearings from Neptune Bearing or even rented the Neptune bearing tool kit which almost pays for half of the new spinner support! Please don't open the 12002022 seal kit... just send it back for your $40 refund...

Don't forget to replace your 12002535 door latch wax motor if you have an earlier timer version (non digital) Neptune front loader with the original one still in it before it chokes and smokes your machine control board. See Neptune Help for more information.

Until next time...

Paul the octopus and the Maytag Neptune Front Load Washer meet up?

I wonder if Paul the octopus can predict when your Maytag Neptune bearings are going to fail?
Oh well! The only clue you will have is that your Neptune front load washer sounds like a jet plane taking off during the high speed spin.

By the way, you can replace just your bearings and not the large outer tub and save a laundry basket full of cash. See Neptune Bearing for more information.

I also provide replacement bearings and seals for the Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet front load washers as well.

Don’t forget if you have a Neptune with a timer knob (non digital) that you need to replace the door latch wax motor if it is the original one before it fails and damages your machine control board. See Neptune help for information.

Maytag Neptune 6500 burns seal

Maytag Neptune repair:

Another Neptuner needs help... Here is a question from a Neptuner that was pulled from the blogosphere...

Q: Last night, I washed some clothes with two pillows. It seems that the pillows were rubbing against the seal? (The plastic thing next to the door) and now that the seal has a hole. There is great but I will not wash until you know if that is really bad (maybe the water can get in there). Also, I think because of that the washer was making a really loud noise near the end of the cycle.

A: If the bearings are going out you can replace them. See Neptune Bearing for more info. You can also rent a special tool kit, too. Usually, the machine will start to sound like a jet taking off when in the high speed spin cycle.

If you call a tech and the bearings need attention, they will ask for $900 to replace the outer tub, unless they are a tech that owns the Neptune Bearing Tony Tool from Neptune Kits then you might get the bearings replaced for $200 or so.

It is also possible the spinner support has an issue and is causing the inner tub to wobble which can rub the plastic liner. Contact me and I can get you a new spinner support which comes with the new seal.

Until next time...

Slightly off topic today with portable Generators

Hi Neptuners!

It seems that we rely on our homes to be energized with electricity to run all sorts of time and labor saving devices.

What happens when your power line is severed during an ice storm or a car collides with a utility pole?

I asked myself the same question and decided to be prepared. I recently purchased a propane generator. Actually, it was a Christmas gift for myself. ;-) It is a 3,500 watt model, single phase 120 VAC. I figure it will run the furnace (natural gas), fridge, freezer, sump pump and some lighting. It uses the standard grill type propane tanks and should run about 9 hours at half load.

Once I received it... I filled the oil (.6 qt.) up and hooked up the propane tank and fired it up. I was impressed with how quiet it was. How useful is a generator just sitting there? Not very... I also purchased a 30 amp, 120 VAC inlet box, 10 ft. 10-3 generator hook up cable, the Square D breaker panel generator interlock kit, 30amp 2 pole breaker, 15/15 tandom breaker, 10 ft. 10-2 w/gnd romex wire and misc. hardware.

I plan to install all of the components during my holiday break until Jan 4th! I will shoot some video for you to see like I did for the DVD duplicator I purchased last month. The DVD duplicator has produced about 50 mini DVDs, 35 CD's and so far has done a great job for me so if you need to do some CD or DVD duplication check out the DVD Duplicator site I put up.

I also put up a quick generator site you can check out, too. I love putting up websites... can't you tell!

If you would like to put up some websites I am putting together a training class to teach folks how to put up websites step-by-step. Contact me at neptunewasher@gmail.com if you're interested in putting up websites.

As always, if you have a Maytag Neptune with a timer knob... check out Neptune Help Song for a video that explains the faulty door latch wax motor issue.

Until next time...

Kenmore Elite's have bearing issues too?

Kenmore Elite - Do these front loaders have bearing issues too?

I have been offering Maytag Neptune owner's the bearing and seal kits for about 2 years now at Neptune Bearing.

Recently, I had emails from 2 Elite owners that needed bearings. One was for an HE3 machine that was 3 years old and the second was an HE2 model. Does anyone build a washing machine that will last? I have an Elite HE3 and it is still working... (Knock on wood)

Well, don't fret Elite owners... I just put up a website where you can purchase replacement bearings and seal. See Elite Bearing for details.

You can also replace the outer tub as these are not too expensive yet because they are still in production. But once they are out of production the price will go up considerably just like the Maytag Neptune outer tub has.

Until next time...

Maytag Neptune Bearing Update - Tony Tool Rental

Maytag Neptune Bearing Update - Tony Tool Rental

As of August 14, 2009, all Neptune Tony Tool rentals will get a pair of snap ring pliers included with the rental. This benefit will help those who don't have the snap ring pliers. I've received feedback from tool renters that stated they had to go out and purchase this tool to get the snap ring off. Not anymore...

Please don't forget to wear safety glasses because the snap ring may shoot across the room when you remove it and it is better to be safe than sorry.

The Tony Tool rental also includes the bearings, 12002022 seal kit and 14 minute DVD that shows the disassembly, bearing change and the seal kit installation.

To order the Neptune Bearing Tony Tool rental go to Neptune Bearing.

Until next time...

Maytag Neptune Front Load question - Water still in tub

Maytag Neptune Front load - Here is a question I get a lot:

Q: I have a Maytag Neptune that doesn't drain. It spins the water out of the clothes but the bottom of the machine has enough water in it that you can hear it when you turn the drum.

A: Perhaps it is draining after all... The water you hear when you turn the inner tub is the balance ring which has liquid in it and it is part of the balancing system on the Neptunes. Now, if there is physically water visible in the inner tub then the pump is not getting all of the water out and it needs to be investigated. There are a number of issues that can cause this. One is a clogged tub drain or tub drain hose that feeds the pump. It could also be that the pump has debris in it or the drain hose in the back of machine is kinked... Whatever the reason it needs to be corrected or naturally your Neptune tub bearings will not last long.

The reason is because the tub seal is not designed to work against the water slinging in the tub during spin cycle. Once water get passed the seal it will get into the bearings and cause the lubrication to break down. The next thing you will notice is that the your Neptune will get louder in spin cycle where it sounds like a jet plane taking off. At this point you will want to replace the bearings and seal.

You can do it yourself and save lots of money. See http://www.neptunebearing.com/ for more information regarding the Neptune Bearing Tool Kit rental as well, which was designed to save you time and effort when replacing your Neptune bearings. It even includes video access that you can watch that shows how to disassemble your Neptune, replace bearings and install the seal kit. Until next time...

Maytag Neptune Washer - Bearing Spacer Question

Maytag Neptune Washer - Bearing Spacer Question:
I've been asked a few times lately regarding the installation of the new bearing spacer so I wanted to post the answer here. If you will look at the picture you will notice one end of the spacer is flat and the other end has a slight bevel.

The beveled end goes towards the rear of washer because you don't want the spacer rubbing the seal on the rear bearing.

If you have a Maytag Neptune front load washer check out Maytag Neptune Bearing for replacement bearings and the seal kit. When you notice your Neptune getting loud in the high speed spin cycle is when it is time to change your bearings. You don't want to wait too long to change them because the bearings will eventually fall apart and that will make it more difficult to get them out of there.

One last thing... If your Neptune front loader has the timer dial, you need to see if you have the faulty door latch wax motor. See Maytag Neptune wax motor for a video that explains the issue.

Until next time...

Maytag Neptune Washer - Bearing Spacer

Maytag Neptune Washer - Bearing Spacer

I just added the replacement Neptune bearing spacer to the http://www.neptunebearing.com/page4.html order form near the bottom.

Occasionally, the bearing spacer needs replaced when swapping your Neptune tub bearings out.

Over the years, I've seen cracked spacers and badly corroded bearing spacers.

Note: These replacement Maytag Neptune Spacers are much thicker than the original Neptune bearing spacers.

The two photos show the Neptune bearing spacer next to a quarter for size reference.

Maytag Neptune Bearing - I Shipped A Tony Tool to Canada

Maytag Neptune Bearing Update - I just shipped my first Tony Tool rental kit to Canada via UPS Ground. The location I shipped it to was Glen Huron, Ontario Canada.

It is no surprise because there is a large number of Maytag Neptune owners in Canada that I have sold the Q6 & R11 repair kits to. I have received a number of tool rental requests but I declined to ship the tools to Canada for a number of reasons...

1. The UPS Ground shipping time will be greater than the Flat Rate Priority Mail I use for the domestic orders which ties up the tool for longer. It weighed 15 pounds which tells me David is getting the solid steel knock out plug...

2. Customs - Getting the tools through customs was concerning because these were rental and we should not have to pay duty on them when you declare the value of $425.00.

3. I also included a bearing spacer just in case David's spacer is damaged or corroded.

4. DVD - I don't know if the Tony Tool DVD will play in Canadian players because DVDs have a country code.

5. Shipping expense - The UPS Ground shipping expense was about $35.00 USD Verses $15.55 for Flat Rate Priority Mail shipping in the States. I will have to hold back more of the refund to cover the additional shipping expense to Canada or get a higher deposit up front.

To rap it up... Before we get excited about renting the Neptune Bearing Tony Tool to Neptune owners in Canada let's see what happens with David's Neptune and see if I get the tool back from Customs, etc.

In the meantime, if you are in the States you can order your Tony Tool rental at www.neptunebearing.com.

Maytag Neptune Bearing Tony Tool Update

Maytag neptune bearing information - The Maytag Neptune Bearing Tony Tool has been improved! Could this be a dumb bell?

I believe it could be! But more importantly... The original PVC knockout plug has been upgraded to solid steel! The biggest issue with the Tony Tool has been the PVC Knockout plug because it would crack near the top lip and folks who rented the tool kit at www.neptunebearing.com would call or email me apologizing and offering to buy a new one. I would just explain to them that it was not an issue and don't worry about it.

I just figured that you Neptune owners were taking your frustrations out on the knock out plug like a stress relieving squeeze toy. But no, Tony mentioned that his personal PVC knock out plug was cracked too and that it still worked great for getting the front bearing out.

There is a danger when using the steel knockout and that is if it falls down it can damage components on the floor of your Neptune washer because it is so heavy... so I decided to keep the much lighter PVC knockout plugs with the tool kits.

Calling all Maytag Neptune Technicians

Hi Neptuners,

If you are a Neptune technician and you are tired of getting kicked out of folks' home after handing them a ridiculous $900 bearing repair quote then see http://www.neptunekits.com/special/ where you can order your own Neptune bearing tool kit and bearings in bulk. Offer them a $150 - $225 repair quote instead... Now you can also receive potential future Neptune repair business as well because they did not junk their Neptune.

I get emails from Neptune owners asking if I have any technicians in their area who have the special Neptune Bearing tool. Let's face it, not everyone wants to change their Neptune bearings themselves and would like someone who has the Neptune bearing tool to do it for them.

Well, what are you waiting for? http://www.neptunekits.com/special/

Until next time...

The New Neptune Song is just about ready...

I can hear the excitement building about the new Maytag Neptune Song. The www.neptunehelpsong.com already has 675 hits the last time I checked.

I will give you a few hints:

1. It will be placed on my http://www.neptunebearing.com/ site.
2. I will post a poll on this blog so you can vote on it.
3. It will have a faster tempo and have a cajone which adds a nice sound.

In case you are wondering... Here is a cajon you can look at:

Maytag Neptune Help feedback

Hi Neptuners!

Here is feedback I received today after Chuck had changed his Neptune bearings and seal.

"Thank You Thank You Thank You I have completed the bearing replacement on my Neptune washer and all is well. It is again working like new. I have one question, my unit is a 5500BWW, do I need to replace the wax motor, or did Maytag make the change with that model #. Thanks again. Chuck S."

That's great news Chuck! Your MAH5500BWW does not have the faulty 12002535 door latch wax motor so you are OK. Jeff

If your Neptune is screaming at you while in high speed spin cycle goto http://neptunebearing.com/page4.html to purchase the replacement bearings and 12002022 seal kit.

What are they doing to that poor Maytag Neptune Front Loader?

What are they doing?

1. Winding up the spring to get the Neptune started?

2. Freeing the stuck tub?

3. Disecting the Neptune?

4. Adjusting the belt tension?

Actually, they are using the special Neptune Bearing Tool that can be borrowed at www.neptunebearing.com. The tool kit comes with the bearings, 12002022 seal kit and a DVD that shows you how to disassemble the Neptune front loader, replace bearings and install seal kit.

You don't have the use the tool kit... Folks have been changing their Neptune bearings using pipes, large hammer, threaded rod, large washers, patience, etc.

You can make replacing your Neptune bearings kid's play when using the Tony Tool.

Will your Maytag Neptune bearing and seal kit fit my MAH55FLBWW Neptune?

Here is a question I received recently...

Q: "Hey there... I have a Maytag Neptune front loader washing machine, with the typical bearing failure. Im interested in buying your repair kit, however I need to know for certain it will fit my model. My model is MAH55FLBWW. Thanks for your time."

A: Hello, yes the bearing and seal kit will fit your Neptune. See www.neptunebearing.com for information on the Neptune bearing and 12002022 seal kit. I also offer the tonytool for rent so you can save time while replacing your bearings.

Sunday, January 4, 2009

Will the Maytag bearing and seal kit that you are selling work on all Maytag Neptunes?

Here is another bearing question I received regarding the Maytag Neptune bearing kit...

Q: "Will the Maytag bearing and seal kit that you are selling work on all Maytag Neptunes? I have the MAH6500AWQ that sounds like a jet engine. I have also read that if you change the bearings you should also change the shaft...is that correct? If so do you have the shaft for the Neptune as well?"

A: Yes, the bearing and seal kit will work with all Maytag Neptune front loaders. Presently, the common residential models are the MAH3000, MAH4000, MAH5500, MAH6500 and the 2000 stackers. The reason is that these machines have been in service for at least 4 years.

The shaft is called the spinner support and you don't have to change it if it is not damaged. I have only sold a couple of the spinner supports in the last year. One failed when the tub came to a screeching halt due to the seal and bearing failure and the second spinner support just failed (one arm bolt rusted out causing tub to wobble and trip inertia/balance sensors) but the customer decided to go ahead and replace the bearings and seal since he had to take it apart to replace the spinner. The last time I shipped a spinner support it was $95 including UPS Ground shipping.

The Neptune bearing and Maytag 12002022 seal kit can be purchased from http://www.neptunebearing.com/ and you should look into taking advantage of the tonytool rental program to save you time on the bearing and seal change plus it includes use of the DVD which Tony and Shirley show you how to disassemble your Neptune, replace bearings and install the new seal kit in about 14 minutes.

For coin Laundromats, you can purchase multiple bearing & seal kits along with the tonytool at http://www.neptunekits.com/. We find that Laundromats can have a large number of Neptune front loaders and they can save considerable amount of money replacing their bearings instead of replacing the large expensive outer tub. We recommend replacing the bearings and seal as a preventative measure to prevent washer down time.

Lastly, for all of your Neptune needs, see http://www.neptunehelp.com/.

I have a 4 year old Neptune MAH55FLBWQ Washer and the bearing is shot. Will this kit fit this model?

This was a valid question I received today regarding the Maytag Neptune bearing kit...

Yes, the Maytag Neptune bearing and seal kit will fit your Neptune. See www.neptunebearing.com for more info on the tonytool rental program that helps you change your bearings in about an hour and a half and includes access to a video that shows you how to take your Neptune apart, replace bearings and install the seal kit.

Until next time...
